GDPR & Data Sovereignty

Expanding abroad means your data crosses borders. Here is how we approach GDPR and data sovereignty, and where we stop.

Our role

GrowGlobal24 is an advisory and coordination service, not a law firm. This page is general information, not legal advice. Whether and how GDPR applies to your business depends on your facts, so confirm with a qualified data protection adviser.

Why GDPR matters for expansion

The EU General Data Protection Regulation can apply to companies outside the EU when they offer goods or services to people in the EU or monitor their behaviour. A company opening a German GmbH or hiring staff in the EU will usually be handling personal data inside the EU, which brings obligations around lawful basis, transparency, security and individual rights.

Data sovereignty in plain terms

Data sovereignty is the idea that data is subject to the laws of the country where it is collected or stored. Many territories on our roadmap have their own regimes, for example the UK GDPR, Singapore's PDPA, Japan's APPI, Brazil's LGPD and the UAE's federal data protection law. They overlap in spirit but differ in detail, and rules change, so check current requirements locally.

Questions we help you work through

  • What personal data will the new entity collect, from whom, and why?
  • Where will customer, employee and payroll data be stored, and who can access it?
  • Do you need a representative, data protection officer or registration in a given territory?
  • What mechanism covers transfers out of the EU or UK, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses?
  • Which providers will act as processors, and are data processing agreements in place?

How this fits our method

Data protection is part of our compliance engine, alongside VAT and tax. During Phase 1 we map the data flows your expansion will create. In Phases 2 and 3 we help you sequence provider selection, contracts and policies so that they are ready before you hire or sell. Independent licensed professionals prepare legal documents and give formal advice.

Your rights regarding our own handling of data

If you have shared personal data with us, you may ask to access, correct or delete it, or to object to its use. Our Privacy Policy explains what we handle and how. Write to [email protected] and we will respond.

Next steps

Bring a short description of your product, your data types and your target territories to a briefing call. We will highlight the questions worth settling early and point you towards appropriately qualified local advisers.
