In December 2019, Caroline, who was then dating former tennis player Lewis Burton, was involved in a personal incident that became widely publicised.
At the time, some media outlets claimed she had injured her partner, but official police documents later clarified that his injuries were minor and that the situation had been misrepresented.

Caroline was charged and preparing for a court case when she sadly took her own life in February 2020, aged 40.
Her mother has since questioned the decision to prosecute her daughter, saying the pressure of intense media coverage deeply affected Caroline’s mental health.

“If she wasn’t in the public eye, things might have been handled differently,” Christine shared. “She didn’t deserve the level of scrutiny she faced.”

Before her death, Caroline had become one of Britain’s most beloved TV personalities — known for her warmth, wit, and success hosting Love Island, The X Factor, and Strictly Come Dancing, which she famously won in 2014.
