Meghan Markle Makes Surprise Hospital Visit, Painting With Patients Ahead of Australia Trip

“These special moments are a reminder of how powerful creativity can be.”

Ahead of her upcoming visit to Australia in April alongside husband Prince Harry, Meghan Markle stepped out in her hometown, visiting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to take part in painting and crafts with patients.

“Today we were honored to welcome LA’s own @meghan, Duchess of Sussex, to CHLA’s Creative Oasis, where she spent time painting alongside our incredible patients,” the hospital wrote on Instagram. “These special moments are a reminder of how powerful creativity can be in fostering joy, connection, and healing.”

Meghan’s visit was part of the hospital’s Make March Matter annual fundraiser that supports “the lifesaving care, research, and innovation that happens at CHLA every day,” it wrote.

For the visit, the fashion site What Meghan Wore reported that Meghan wore a beige Heidi Merrick cardigan, which was originally seen in season two of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. She wore a white tank top underneath it, white pants, and a black face mask.

This isn’t Meghan’s first visit to CHLA—she also visited in 2024, when she read aloud to patients, People reported. “Children were laughing and singing as the Duchess turned into character with every page as she read patient favorite books like Rosie the Riveter, Pete the Cat, and I Saw a Cat,” CHLA said in a statement at the time. In a video of the visit, Meghan excitedly showed the cover of Rosie Revere, Engineer, telling the group, “This is one of my favorites.”
