A 12-year-old from Oklahoma is going viral once again — this time on TikTok — thanks to his remarkable ability to imitate bird calls during a school talent show.

After Samuel Henderson gained millions of views for a recent video showing him performing for classmates, he was featured in a Good Morning America segment that aired on May 30.

“Walking through parking lots, there’d be birds running around,” his mother said on GMA. “He’d make the sound, and they’d be following us. And I was like, ‘Oh, wow. Wow. He’s really good at this.’ They think he’s another bird.”

According to GMA, Henderson — who lives with autism and Tourette syndrome — keeps a journal where he records every bird species and call he can imitate. So far, his list has grown to 114.

The preteen hopes to become an ornithologist one day and has a strong interest in bird conservation and protecting the environment.

He has previously appeared on several television programs and news features, including The Jennifer Hudson Show.

“Do you call your bird sounds that you make your superpower?” Jennifer Hudson asked.

“Yes,” Henderson replied.

Recalling how he first discovered his talent for mimicking birds, he said, “Once I was at the zoo — at my local zoo — and I saw this grackle on this trash can, and I started mimicking it.”

Henderson said his friends are often amazed by his unusual talent.

“They’re really surprised,” he said, adding that by the end of his talent show performances, “they’re super loud.”

His mother said his ability to imitate sounds has been apparent since he was a baby.

“He has mimicked sounds from the day we brought him home from the hospital,” she explained. “We’d go to a restaurant, he’d hear someone laugh and immediately copy it. If we were somewhere industrial, he’d pick up mechanical noises and mimic those too. He’s just got that great ear, a God-given great ear.”

Speaking with CBS Evening News, Henderson joked about the source of his bird-like sounds.

“Some people say that I swallowed birds,” he said.

When asked whether he had actually swallowed any birds, Henderson replied with a laugh: “No. Well… chickens. Because we eat chicken.”
