TV favourite Holly Willoughby is facing a new wave of drama after becoming locked in a planning dispute with her local council over changes to her £8million family home.

The 44-year-old presenter and her producer husband Dan Baldwin, 50, had hoped to add a striking first-floor glass corridor — described in documents as a “link infill extension” — connecting the main house to an outbuilding.

While the couple have already been granted permission for a gym, cinema room and a ground-floor link, council officials rejected the latest proposal, branding it “inappropriate” and “overly dominant” for the heritage property.

Now, Holly — a mum of three — and Dan have lodged a formal appeal, insisting the new design would allow the “optimum viable use of a heritage asset.”

The couple purchased the six-bedroom property in July, with Land Registry records revealing they paid in cash and did not take out a mortgage when securing the South East home.

Their move away from London came just months after one of the most harrowing periods of Holly’s life.

In October 2023, stalker Gavin Plumb was arrested after an undercover police officer grew alarmed by his disturbing plans. Officers later discovered he had been communicating in a group chat named Abduct Lovers, while unknowingly feeding information to law enforcement agencies including the FBI and the Metropolitan Police.

Plumb was charged with soliciting the murder of Holly Willoughby, as well as incitement to kidnap and rape.

Following a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court in July 2024, he was convicted and handed three concurrent life sentences — one for each offence — with a minimum term of 15 years.

He will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life and has also been issued with a restraining order.

In a courageous decision, Holly waived her right to anonymity in relation to the incitement to rape charge so she could be named in court.

The terrifying ordeal ultimately led the former This Morning host and her family to leave the capital, seeking privacy and safety in the countryside — a sanctuary they are now fighting to adapt, even as the council pushes back.
