Gino D’Acampo’s TV Comeback Amid Controversy
Gino D’Acampo is making his TV comeback after months away following serious allegations. The Italian chef, accused of “sexually inappropriate” and “intimidating” behavior -which he has denied – is now gearing up for a new project filmed in Ireland. Despite ITV cutting ties, some of his former Celebrity Juice and This Morning colleagues are publicly supporting him.
Gino’s Return to Television
D’Acampo recently shared behind-the-scenes photos from his latest project in Ireland. The images, featuring him dressed as a car mechanic, were liked by Celebrity Juice host Keith Lemon and This Morning’s Josie Gibson, hinting at a quiet backing from industry peers.
The 48-year-old chef posted: “What a fantastic experience in Ireland working on a new series… I can’t wait for you guys to see it… p.s. Happy St Patrick’s Day.”
A colleague on the project responded: “It was an absolute pleasure working with you on this production, Gino.”
Industry Reactions and Public Response
While some of Gino’s co-stars have shown support, ITV has confirmed it will no longer work with him or air reruns of his shows. The decision came after allegations surfaced from multiple women, some dating back over a decade.
Jon Barrowman, who has faced his own career challenges following indecent exposure claims, also liked Gino’s post, sparking further discussions on public redemption in entertainment.
Despite the controversy, fans appear eager to see Gino back on screen. Social media reactions include: “Anything with Gino in it, I am so down to watch.”“Can’t wait to see you back on our screens.”
Allegations Against Gino D’Acampo
Among the allegations, a female television producer claimed Gino drew an explicit picture of her during a live broadcast. Another incident involved him allegedly kissing a footballer’s wife in front of her husband and later boasting about it.
A woman referred to as “Hannah” told ITV News that Gino made inappropriate sexual comments to her in 2011, including expressing a desire to have sex against a kitchen counter.
In response to the allegations, Gino issued a statement denying any wrongdoing:
“I have never been made aware of these matters previously, and the allegations are firmly denied. I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone.”
He continued:
“Not only have these allegations never been raised with me before, but I have also been repeatedly supported by executives at the highest level and was commissioned on prime-time programs during the period in which it is now suggested I was acting inappropriately.”
With ITV stepping away from any future collaborations, Gino’s new project marks an independent return to TV. While his former colleagues are publicly backing him, the industry remains divided over his comeback.
