Amanda Owen has finally broken her silence on why, despite ending her 22-year marriage, she still hasn’t officially divorced her ex-husband Clive. And in doing so, the Our Yorkshire Farm star couldn’t resist taking a sharp swipe at him.
The 51-year-old shepherdess shot to fame with Clive in 2018 when their Channel 5 show Our Yorkshire Farm began following their lives at Ravenseat Farm with their nine children. But behind the scenes, cracks formed and the couple decided to call time on their romance in 2022.
Since then, Amanda has moved a mile down the road, while Clive has remained at the farm. Yet their lives are still deeply entwined — both personally and professionally — and divorce, she admits, is far more complicated than people imagine.
“He Still Annoys Me”

When asked about the possibility of rekindling their romance, Amanda was blunt: “What am I supposed to say, ‘We get on like a house on fire’? Well, if we did, we wouldn’t want to separate, would we? He’s still the same annoying old Clive that he always was. I saw him just now, and he’s still annoying. I annoy him, and he annoys me.”
The Yorkshire star told Hello! Magazine that while her feelings about Clive are clear, their practical situation makes divorce unlikely. “How would we even divide things up? It’s just not happening. Who would get custody of all the sheep, the dogs, and the horses — and who would even want custody?”
She admitted the arrangement is “tricky” but insists it works, given how their lives and businesses remain tightly bound together.
Still Working Side by Side
Despite their split, Amanda and Clive continue to work together, even renovating a nearby farmhouse while filming Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids. The series, which returned last year, follows the former couple and their nine children — Raven, 24, Reuben, 18, Miles, 15, Edith, Violet, 14, Sidney, 13, Annas, 10, Clemmie, nine, and Nancy, eight.
Both addressed their breakup openly on the show. Amanda admitted they had gone through an “incredibly hard” time but managed to “get through it.” Clive called it “a strange few years” but said they’d reached a balance: “Although we’re not together, we’re still in business, and we still have the kids. It’s a crazy situation, but actually it’s the most sensible thing for everyone.”
Life’s Unusual Reality
Speaking recently on Lorraine, Amanda revealed another glimpse of their unconventional dynamic. She laughed as she recalled Clive phoning her in a panic after accidentally frying eggs in yellow washing-up liquid, thinking it was cooking oil.
“He was complaining that I shouldn’t buy washing-up liquid in yellow,” she said. “According to him, it should only be green. We are up against it, believe me, but the idea is we just get on with it. There’s plenty to do, plenty of space. That’s the reality.”
Amanda admits the setup may not look traditional, but insists it’s the arrangement that works best for their unique family.
