Prince William is reportedly keen for his father, King Charles, to banish Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, from royal life after yet more revelations this week. Over the last 24 hours, Sarah, 65, has made headlines after it was revealed she sent an email apologising to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein for distancing herself from him after he served time in jail for child sex offences.
In the 2011 email, revealed by The Mail on Sunday, Sarah referred to the late paedophile as her “supreme friend” and apologised for giving an interview criticising and disowning him as a friend. A spokesperson for the duchess has said that Sarah sent the email to try and avoid being sued by Epstein.
Since the revelation this week, it has been reported that Prince William and the King are experiencing a difference of opinion on the future of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
It is believed that William, 43, wants his father to banish the pair from the Firm, with The Daily Mail reporting that the King is hesitant to do this.
It is believed this is because the monarch, 76, now wants to cut all ties with his brother and ex-sister-in-law, who are currently loyal to him and the monarchy, even though they are not working royals.
A royal source said: “William feels even more strongly than the King that Andrew and Fergie are an embarrassment and will be urging his father to act.
“The optics of that pair of chancers guffawing away [at events] look terrible.”

The source continued: “The King doesn’t want to cut ties with his brother, former sister-in-law and that side of the family. The late Queen, conscious that Fergie was the mother of her granddaughters, always took that view, even if Prince Philip couldn’t bear to be in the same room as Sarah.”
It is also believed William is keen for his uncle and Sarah, who were both previously friends with Epstein, to be moved out of Royal Lodge in Windsor.
While Andrew, 65, and Sarah are not working royals, they have been pictured at royal events recently, including last week at the funeral of The Duchess of Kent.
They were also photographed with the Royal Family earlier this year as they attended an Easter Sunday church service in Windsor.
