Two people were killed when a small plane crashed into an Ohio home with a family inside on Thursday — sparking a massive inferno, according to authorities and reports.
The Piper PA-28 with two people onboard plummeted into a house in Akron around 3:45 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The two unidentified people on board the plane, which took off from Akron Fulton Airport, died in the fiery crash, officials said.
The impact caused the house to burst into flames while a family of four remained inside, according to the Akron Fire Department.
A couple and two children inside miraculously escaped, and no one on the ground was injured, Akron Fire Department District Chief Sierjie Lash told News5Cleveland.
“There were a couple and two children that live there,” Lash said, per the outlet. “They were all four home, and they were able to get out with no injuries, so we’re very fortunate that they are safe.”
“We got a call that residents saw a plane going down into the house,” Lash added at a press conference at the scene.
“We got more calls that people heard explosions, and we arrived to heavy smoke coming out of the house, and we addressed it, approached it as a house fire,” she told reporters.

Wild photos captured massive plumes of black smoke billowing from the residence, which is nestled on a suburban street of several close-knit homes. The tail of the small plane was also littered among debris from the crash.
Authorities will investigate the home’s structural integrity, which was heavily damaged in the blaze, authorities said.
