Plies has sued GloRilla, Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B for allegedly stealing the beat for their hit song “Wanna Be.”
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the Florida native is claiming his 2008 track “Me & My Goons” has been infringed upon — first by Soulja Boy in 2010 with “Pretty Boy Swag” and then by the trio of female rappers with their 2024 collaboration.

The specific point of contention is the use of what Plies is terming an “infrared countdown beat” used by both Soulja and years later Glo, Meg and Cardi (the latter of whom appears on the remix of “Wanna Be”).
Megan’s Hot Girl Productions is also named as a defendant, along with Collipark Productions, Universal Music Group, Yo Gotti‘s Collective Music Group and Interscope Records.
Neither Soulja Boy nor GloRilla, Megan and Cardi have yet responded to Plies’ lawsuit nor the accusation that they ripped off his song.
However, producer LilJujuMadeDaBeat, who has worked extensively with Megan (though did not make the beat for “Wanna Be”), hit back at Plies on social media.
He claimed that Dallas rapper Lil Wil’s 2007 hit ‘“My Dougie” predated all of the aforementioned songs, even Plies’, and that the producer of that track, Big E (not to be confused with the wrestler of the same name), is credited on “Wanna Be.”
“‘My Dougie’ came it in 2006, ‘Me & My Goons’ came it in 2008. Big E the producer of ‘My Dougie’ is credited on ‘Wanna Be,’” he wrote.
He added: “For the Record ‘Pretty Boy Swag’ is a remake of ‘My Dougie’ as well. Soulja Boy is on the ‘My Dougie’ Remix. ‘Me & My Goons’ literally not even the single for that Plies album.”
This is not the first time that Plies has gotten into a dispute over sampling.
Earlier this year, Kodak Black asked the “Bust It Baby” hitmaker to clear a sample for a new song he was hoping to release, but the veteran rapper wouldn’t respond to him.
Kodak said in an Instagram Live: “I need somebody from Plies camp or Plies himself or whatever to tighten down. ‘Cause I got a song that I’m tryna drop and I need the clearance from Plies.
“I had redid one of his songs and I need the shit cleared. I grew up off that boy. I fuck with Plies tough. If you hear this or see this, let that boy know.”
Before Plies ghosted Kodak, the two collaborated on tracks such as “Real Hitta.”
