Luka Doncic has already made his LA Lakers debut and impressed, although some bumps can be expected, as seen in their loss to the Utah Jazz recently.
Still, that trade remains lopsided in the minds of many, with that assertion not getting any weaker due to Anthony Davis’ injury on his Dallas Mavericks’ debut.

Doncic and LeBron James on the same team is sure to get the analysts’ pulses moving league-wide but in the meantime, Kevin Durant has broken down the James factor that will decide the fate of Doncic in the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kevin Durant on LeBron James-Luka Doncic dynamic at LA Lakers
When it comes to superteams and superstars uniting, there are not many players in the league more familiar with the matter than Kevin Durant.
Durant joined a Golden State Warriors outfit that had gone 73-9 the season before and formed arguably the most dominant modern team in NBA history alongside Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
Durant won two championships with that team, earning FMVP as well so when he spoke about LeBron James’ role in getting Doncic to be successful in Los Angeles, it was good insight.
Durant said: “I think LeBron is secure in his game in what he brings to the table so that makes him a great teammate.
“He welcomes guys with open arms when they come to his team. He doesn’t feel like he has to do much to make guys comfortable. He just plays his game and fits with anybody. He can play off any player, smart and experienced, it will work.
“You have talented, high IQ guys. It will take some time obviously to iron out the kinks but in the long run, I think they will be pretty sweet together.”
Luka Doncic has already received LeBron James’ message
Like Durant said, James has been an extremely welcoming and malleable teammate throughout his career and now that a bonafide superstar has arrived, he’ll be happy to integrate him.
Recently, Paul Pierce said Doncic is already doing what Anthony Davis didn’t alongside James which bodes well for the long-term prospects of the partnership.
At this stage of his career, James probably cares more about preserving his longevity while competing than any imaginary “alpha” status on the team when his legacy is already watertight.
“Don’t try to fit in, fit out,” was James’ message to Doncic, albeit in more spicy words, when the Slovenian made his Lakers debut and that is the sentiment Durant echoes perfectly as well.
The Lakers will now be a problem for the rest of the NBA for a long time now.
