If you binged all 10 episodes of Nobody Wants This this weekend, then texted your best friend/sister/therapist, “Adam Brody is so hot,” you’re not alone.
Thanks to Adam Brody’s unique blend of sweet and sexy (we’re calling it “swexy”) and his turn as a Jewish heartthrob in the Netflix show, the Internet is having a “Hot Rabbi” fall.
As longtime members of the Adam Brody fan club, we’re thrilled to welcome all of these new members (Shalom, and help yourself to a bagel and schmear at the buffet). We’ve been kvelling about the actor’s swexiness since his breakout role as Dave Rygalski in season 3 of Gilmore Girls where he made fans swoon when he read the Bible in one night just so he could take Lane Kim to the prom. (Meanwhile, my husband still complains about the time I made him try gefilte fish at my family’s Passover seder.)

While Lane’s mom finally relented (even Mrs. Kim couldn’t resist a teenage boy who flosses and never watches more than 30 minutes of TV a night) Dave Rygalski and Lane Kim’s romance was short-lived because he went to college In California and after giving a long distance relationship a shot, they eventually broke up (blame the marriage jug). Fun fact: Keiko Agena, who played Lane Kim, recently said that she believes her character still thinks about her swexy (yup, we’re making it happen) ex. That’s the power of Adam Brody, people!
In real life, Adam Brody had moved on to a new show called The O.C. where once again, he charmed viewers, this time as Seth Cohen, another teenage boy unicorn (Jewicorn?). He was cute, smart (he read actual books), had great taste in music (Death Cab For Cutie fans unite), respected his parents and continued the tradition of Adam Brody characters making grand gestures by standing on a coffee cart to profess his love. Seth Cohen also did more for interfaith relationships than Annie Hall with his creation of Chrismukkah, a fictional holiday that many (this writer included) now celebrate in real life.

Nearly two decades later, we have Seth Cohen, the reboot, in the form of Rabbi Noah in Netflix’s Nobody Wants This.
In this show, present day Adam Brody officially joins Paul Rudd and Joshua Jackson on the the Mount Rushmore of actors who just keep getting hotter. He has all the approachable charm of his former TV characters, only now with facial hair and the kind of arms that make us think he’s way better at basketball than the Matzoh Ballers would have us believe. Plus, his house looks like a CB2 catalog and he can whip up a delicious (kosher) meal in minutes. This is a man who would never ruin a kugel by putting raisins in it!

But what really activated the PEOPLE Slack, was the way his character kisses Kristen Bell’s Joanne in episode 2. Once again, he pulls a move that only happens on screen when he asks her to set down her ice cream (and her bag! on the sidewalk!) so he can cup her face in a way that makes us want to write Rabbi Noah in bubble letters in our notebooks. That kiss was game over for Joanne. And all of us.
So raise your kiddush cup to Adam Brody, the mensch with muscles who even managed to sweep Blair Waldorf off her feet. L’chaim!
Nobody Wants This, created by Erin Foster, is out now on Netflix.
