Tyler Perry Sets Third ‘Why Did I Get Married’ Movie at Netflix, Taraji P Henson Joins Cast With Several Returning!

Tyler Perry and Taraji P Henson are reuniting for Why Did I Get Married Again?

The Straw collaborators will star in the upcoming third movie in the franchise, with the actress joining the cast and the filmmaker writing, directing and reprising his role, per Deadline.

In the upcoming threequel, the couples reunite in celebration as Marcus (Michael Jai White) and Angela’s (Tasha Smith) daughter prepares to tie the knot. After being apart for quite some time, they learn quickly that as much as things change, they stay the same. Realizing their children have grown up to be so much like them, they must reflect on the examples they’ve set and ask themselves that age-old question, why did they get married… again?

In addition to Tyler, Michael and Tasha returning, several more stars are reprising their roles, including Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Lamman Rucker and Sharon Leal. Noticeably missing from the cast is Janet Jackson, who played Patricia Agnew in the first two movies.

Along with Taraji, more new cast members include Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, Da’Vinchi, Laya Deleon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Charles L. Smith, Derrick A. King and Sydney Winbush.

Why Did I Get Married Again? is set to debut on Netflix as part of Tyler Perry‘s creative partnership with the streamer.

Why Did I Get Married? premiered in 2007, followed by Why Did I Get Married Too? in 2010.
