Holly Ramsay has broken her silence over her father Gordon’s much-talked-about wedding speech, insisting she was “overwhelmed with happiness” during the moment — despite claims that the celebrity chef took a sly swipe at her new in-laws.

The 25-year-old influencer married Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, 31, at Bath Abbey on December 27, with a lavish reception following at the luxury Kin House estate. The day was overshadowed by a bitter family rift which saw Adam’s mother, Caroline, uninvited from the ceremony.Gordon Ramsay reportedly made a brutal dig at his new son-in-law's parents in the speech at his daughter Holly's wedding to the swimmer on Saturday

According to reports, Gordon, 59, couldn’t resist getting involved. In his father-of-the-bride speech he praised how beautiful Holly looked and told Adam he was a “lucky man”, adding: “Look at Tana — that’s what you have to look forward to.” He is also said to have made a pointed remark about Adam’s absent parents, quipping: “Shame you don’t have the same.”

Now, speaking to British Vogue, Holly has shared a photo of herself and Adam laughing during Gordon’s speech, captioning it:
“Listening to dad’s speech, looking around the room and feeling overwhelmed with the love and happiness on our guests’ faces.”

In what many saw as another subtle jibe at the estranged Peaty family, Holly also revealed that her parents paid for her and Adam’s luxury honeymoon to Mauritius as their wedding present.

“We’re going to Mauritius to just lie by the sea — that was our wedding present from my parents,” she said. “I had to tell Adam we weren’t basing our honeymoon around a 25-metre pool.”

Holly shared several snaps from the big day, including one slightly awkward photograph showing the couple posing with Gordon and Tana Ramsay alongside David and Victoria Beckham — with Adam’s parents notably absent.

Adam is believed not to have mentioned his family at all in his groom’s speech, instead praising his swim coach Mel Marshall as his “everything”, thanking her for grounding and inspiring him.

Holly also opened up about the more intimate moments of the ceremony, revealing that the couple chose George Michael’s A Different Corner for their first dance — a song they had picked when they first started dating. She described her father-daughter dance with Gordon as “so special”.

Food was, unsurprisingly, a major talking point, with Gordon working closely with the team at London’s Savoy Grill to design the wedding menu. The day was emotional for him too — Holly being the first of his and wife Tana’s six children to marry — and she admitted he was often in tears whenever the wedding was mentioned in the run-up.

The morning after the wedding, the couple hosted an “intimate” brunch for their bridal party. Holly had walked down the aisle in Bath Abbey on her father’s arm, keeping her lace gown hidden beneath a dramatic hooded ivory cloak.

More than 130 miles away in Staffordshire, Adam’s devastated mother Caroline was said to be “beside herself” with grief at missing what should have been one of the happiest days of her life. Speaking from the council house where Adam grew up, the 59-year-old said she felt as though Holly and Adam had “cut my heart out”.

This newspaper can also reveal that just moments before entering the abbey with his five-year-old son George, Adam received a searing text from his aunt Louise, who was also not invited. It read:
“I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through… Remember on your happiest day that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.”

The roots of the feud stretch back to September 2024 when members of the Peaty family were snubbed from the couple’s engagement party. Caroline was also not invited to Holly’s glamorous hen do at Soho Farmhouse last month — despite Tana Ramsay and Victoria Beckham attending.

Adam’s great-aunt Janet, 73, who was also excluded, said: “I just feel so sorry for Caroline. To be treated like this is not kind.”

Caroline had even considered turning up on the wedding day regardless, but was talked out of it by her husband Mark, who said it would be “too upsetting”. Had she gone, she would have faced five security guards stationed outside the abbey.

Only Adam’s sister Beth was invited from the Peaty side, acting as a bridesmaid. His estranged brother James was excluded, later sharing — then deleting — a symbolic photo of himself with Caroline outside the abbey, accompanied by a remix of Speak Softly, Love from The Godfather, a move many interpreted as a pointed message about power and exclusion.

Despite the tension, the Ramsays spared no expense, block-booking the abbey — where weddings typically cost around £2,500 — to ensure total privacy. The newlyweds were declared husband and wife without disruption and left the church at around 1.30pm to the ringing of the abbey bells, heading to Kin House for their reception.
