Prince Louis steals the show (again) at Trooping the Colour

LONDON – Prince Louis, 8, is well known for his hilarious antics at royal events and Saturday’s Trooping the Colour celebration was no exception.
The youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, was seen on the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside his parents and siblings, dramatically leaning to one side as he attempted to capture a glimpse of the Royal Air Force fly-past, his mouth open as he gazed outward.
“Please never change, Prince Louis,” read one of many tweets from royal watchers entertained by the young prince’s reaction. “Such a character,” read another.
Louis has a history of delightfully unscripted moments, demonstrating that despite being fourth in line to the British throne, he is, after all, a typical child.

Prince Louis often steals the show – see photos through the years
Prince Louis always captures everyone’s attention during high-profile moments. A look back at his most unforgettable ones.
In 2022, as Britain marked the beginning of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the young royal covered his ears and screamed as the military flyover got too loud.
At another event that month, celebrating his great-grandmother’s 70-year-reign, the young prince playfully poked his tongue out at mother Catherine, turning his nose up with his thumb. His sister Charlotte was photographed reading a book nearby.
Louis stole the show again at the coronation of his grandfather, King Charles III, in May 2023, letting out a long yawn amid the two-hour service. The young prince was sitting alongside his sister Charlotte and mother Kate, who remained poised throughout the event at Westminster Abbey.
The Royal Air Force flyover is a key part of the Trooping the Colour celebration, with the military’s Red Arrow planes unleashing plumes of red, white and blue into the sky as they fly over Buckingham Palace and parts of the United Kingdom.

Trooping the Color marks the official birthday of King Charles and includes an elaborate display of pomp and pageantry featuring almost 1,500 army personnel, 200 military horses and thousands of royal watchers flooding the streets.
Charles was actually born on Nov. 14, 1948, but the monarch’s birthday has been barked in June ever since 1748, during the reign of George II. The former monarch was also born in November, a month far too cold for a parade. Therefore he incorporated it with the summer’s Trooping the Colour parade, which continues to this day.
The “Colours” in the event’s title refer to the regimental flags and insignia displayed by British soldiers in order to provide a rallying point on the battlefield.
