Prince Harry Could Take Archie and Lilibet to Princess Diana’s Grave for the First Time During Emotional UK Visit
Prince Harry may be preparing one of the most personal moments of his life as reports suggest he could introduce Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to their late grandmother, Princess Diana, during the Sussex family’s upcoming visit to Britain.
The trip, expected to take place next month, would mark the children’s first return to the UK in four years and could include a deeply emotional visit to Diana’s final resting place at Althorp House.
A Historic Family Reunion
Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to travel from California with Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, for events connected to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
The visit is also expected to provide the children with an opportunity to reunite with King Charles for the first time since Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Their relationship with the wider Royal Family has remained limited since the Sussexes stepped down from royal duties and relocated to the United States.
Unusual Closure at Althorp Raises Questions
According to reports, Althorp House—the Northamptonshire estate owned by Earl Spencer and home to Princess Diana’s grave—is scheduled to close to visitors for two days during the period Harry and Meghan are expected to be in Britain.
A source familiar with the estate reportedly described the closure as “highly unusual,” noting that once the house opens for its limited summer season, interruptions are rare.
The timing has fueled speculation that Harry may be planning a private visit with his wife and children.
Princess Diana is buried on a secluded island in the middle of an ornamental lake on the estate grounds.
Harry Previously Brought Meghan to Meet His Mother
In his memoir Spare, Harry described bringing Meghan to Althorp in 2022 and introducing her to his mother’s resting place.
He recalled rowing across the lake and later finding Meghan kneeling beside the grave with her eyes closed and palms pressed against the stone.
“At long last I was bringing the girl of my dreams home to meet Mum,” Harry wrote.
Earl Spencer later arranged for Diana’s sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, to join the couple during their visit.
King Charles Reportedly ‘Overjoyed’ at Prospect of Seeing Grandchildren
Reports also suggest King Charles has reached an understanding that will allow him to spend time with Archie and Lilibet during the visit.
The Sussexes are reportedly expected to stay at a royal residence, with Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace, Windsor Castle, and even Frogmore Cottage among the locations being discussed.
