When asked whether Season 3 might show Robby fostering the baby, Gemmill made it clear the idea isn’t part of the plan.

“No. We joked about it — cutting to him on his motorcycle with the baby in a Baby Bjorn — but no.”

While the image of Robby riding his motorcycle with a baby strapped to him might sound amusing, Gemmill confirmed the emotional moment in the finale wasn’t setting up an adoption storyline.

Instead, it represented something much more personal for Robby.

The Real Meaning of the Finale Scene

According to Gemmill, the final moments with Baby Jane Doe were meant to show Robby letting go.

For much of the season, the character had been talking about leaving — about going on what he called a “spirit quest.” The finale shows him finally reaching the point where he has to decide whether he’s truly ready to follow through.

Holding the baby forces him to confront that choice.

And in the end, he makes it.

Gemmill explained that Robby ultimately puts the baby down and decides to go, partly because he’s talked about the journey for so long that he feels he has to follow through with it.

Gemmill revealed that Season 3 of The Pitt will include a four-month time jump, with the story beginning in November. The shift not only introduces colder weather and a different atmosphere but also allows the series to move forward without skipping too much of the story.
