The trusted nanny of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, has quietly accepted a special royal honour at Windsor Castle.
The nanny looks after Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and received the Royal Victorian Medal (Silver) during an investiture ceremony in Windsor.
A statement said that she was decorated “for services to the Prince and Princess of Wales” at a ceremony held by William himself.
Other honourees at the event were photographed receiving their awards; however, images of Ms Borrallo accepting her award were not shared.

The Royal Victorian Medal is an honour that is bestowed at the discretion of King Charles and it was announced during the New Year’s Honours list in December.
Ms Borrallo has worked for the future king for the last 12 years, joining the royal couple when Prince George was eight months old.
“Maria loves the children dearly. She can be firm and strict, but she is very loving and soft with them too,” a source told People.
The couple has maintained strict privacy around their nanny’s role, with their sole public statement on the matter confirming her appointment.
“We will not be giving further details on Maria or her employment, except to say that the duke and duchess are of course delighted she has chosen to join them,” the announcement read.
Despite typically avoiding the spotlight, Maria Teresa has been pictured at several significant family occasions over the years.

She was most recently seen driving with William and Charlotte as they attended King Charles’s Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace in December.
She was spotted wearing Norland’s signature brown and white uniform whilst attending to Prince George and Princess Charlotte at Pippa Middleton’s wedding in 2017.
At the 2023 Trooping the Colour ceremony, she was observed using her mobile phone to capture images of Catherine and the three children as they prepared to board their royal carriage before the procession began.
In his book Gilded Youth, royal biographer Tom Quinn offered insight into Maria Teresa’s role within the household.
One insider quoted in the publication described her as efficient, skilled with children, and someone who appreciates the “antiquarian” aspects of her position.

A separate source told Mr Quinn that the Spanish nanny possesses high intelligence, considerable patience, and a natural instinct for childcare.
Mr Quinn wrote that while the Princess of Wales would prefer to spend most of her time with her children like any ordinary mother, “the huge pressure of royal tradition cannot be ignored.”
