Singer D4vd Arrested After Missing Teen Girl’s Body Found in His Impounded Tesla
D4vd is “being held without bail” after Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s remains were found in the singer’s trunk on Sept. 8, 2025, the LAPD said

Singer D4vd has been arrested in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the teenage girl found dead in the trunk of his impounded Tesla back in September.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrest of the 21-year-old music artist, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, on Thursday, April 16, noting via X that he is “being held without bail.”
“The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for filing consideration,” the LAPD added.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office tells PEOPLE in a statement that it “is aware of the arrest of David Anthony Burke by the Los Angeles Police Department.”
“The case is expected to be presented to the Major Crimes Division, at which point prosecutors will review the facts and evidence to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to file charge,” the D.A.’s office continues. “At this time, additional information is not available. We will share an update on Monday once a filing decision has been made.”
The arrest comes about two months after the artist was named a target of a grand jury probe. Prosecutors said at the time that D4vd “may be involved in the death of 14-year-old victim Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who may have been a victim of foul play.”
Burke had been identified as a suspect in November, a police source previously confirmed to PEOPLE.
Rivas was found dead in an impounded Tesla registered to the singer on Sept. 8, 2025 — one day after her 15th birthday. Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the lot after others reported a foul odor coming from the vehicle.
The car was reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, and neighbors told NBC Los Angeles it had been there for about a month.
LAPD Captain Scot M. Williams previously told PEOPLE that Rivas had likely been dead “for several weeks” before her remains were found in the trunk. Williams also said that Rivas was not frozen and was not decapitated as previously reported by local media.
Rivas’ cause and manner of death remains under investigation. A Los Angeles Police Department detective asked a judge in November to seal autopsy findings in the girl’s death, citing an “ongoing investigation of murder.”

The Los Angeles Times previously reported that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office had listed Rivas as missing from Lake Elsinore, Calif., on at least three occasions in 2024. Residents told the outlet she had run away before, but where she was immediately prior to her death is still uncertain.
A police source alleged to PEOPLE in November 2025 that the perpetrator “most likely had help dismembering and disposing of the body” and that he had “not been cooperative” amid the investigation. His representative previously told NBC Los Angeles that his client was “fully cooperating” with authorities.
Amid the investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at a home close to where the Tesla had been towed, Williams previously told PEOPLE, though he could not confirm what was collected.
A landlord told SFGate that Burke and his manager had been staying at an L.A. rental property, but both moved out shortly after authorities seized electronics and other items there.
It remains unclear whether Rivas and the singer have a connection, though speculation has circulated online. The L.A. medical examiner previously confirmed to PEOPLE that the teen had a “Shhh” tattoo on her right index finger — a similar tattoo to what Burke has — though investigators have not addressed any connection between the matching tattoos.
Burke’s lawyer and representative didn’t respond when previously contacted by PEOPLE.
