Princess Kate and Prince William’s country home may have a wellness retreat built next door to it, depending on the outcome of a planning application.

A new woodland spa development could soon emerge on the Houghton Estate in Norfolk, situated adjacent to Anmer Hall, the cherished countryside residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Planning applications have been lodged with King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council for the proposed wellness retreat, which would transform part of the historic estate into a nature-centred sanctuary.

The development aims to offer visitors an immersive experience in the natural environment, with the planning statement noting: “Guests are encouraged to experience their natural environment, to slow down, relax, absorb and enjoy the surrounding tranquillity.”

Houghton Estate has partnered with Wyld Cabins to deliver the accommodation element, comprising 21 one-bedroom and 21 two-bedroom cabins spread across 87.2 acres of woodland in the estate’s north-western section.

The rural setting promises sweeping panoramic views through the trees, whilst each cabin would benefit from private outdoor bathing facilities.

Overnight guests would be able to take full advantage of the peaceful surroundings, with the secluded location ensuring complete tranquillity for those wishing to unwind in nature, according to Hello.

This year, Princess Kate and Prince William will dedicate at least one engagement each month throughout 2026 to celebrating British excellence, from thriving businesses to overlooked community champions.

A palace source confirmed the couple’s intentions: “It’s really important for the Prince and Princess of Wales to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of the UK. There will be a real emphasis in 2026 on showcasing some of the best of Britain.”

The Princess of Wales has focused on Britain’s creative industries and manufacturing heritage during recent royal engagements.

This new emphasis on British excellence will sit alongside the couple’s established charitable priorities.

The royal couple are expected to begin issuing their own royal warrants from spring 2026, following the King and Queen, who have already granted theirs for the new reign.
