William was very young when his parents split
rince William has found himself making a very rare comment about his parents’ divorce.
The Prince of Wales, 43, is happily married to Kate Middleton. The pair have three children together, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.
But it seems Prince William was very conscious to make sure his children had a relatively normal childhood. He was intent on not recreating the events that he experienced.

Prince William makes comment over parents divorce
While appearing on Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series, The Reluctant Traveler, he made a rare comment about his parents divorce.
When William was young Princess Diana and then Prince Charles has a very public divorce. Judging by William’s comments, it’s something he never wanted to repeat to his kids.
William was asked about his hopes of his children having a “relatively normal home life” when he made the comments.
He responded: “I think it’s really important that that atmosphere is created at home. You have to have that warmth, that feeling of safety, security and love.”
However, while William went on to confirm he had all of those things, he referenced his parents divorce which meant it didn’t last forever.
William continued: “That all has to be there, and that was certainly part of my childhood.
“My parents got divorced at 8, so that lasted a short period of time.”
William went on to express how he doesn’t want to make the “same mistakes as your parents”.
He admitted: “You try and make sure you don’t do the same mistakes as your parents.
“I think we all try and do that. I just want to do what is best for my children. But I know that the drama and the stress when you’re small, really affects you when you’re older.”

William ‘saw’ the media attention on his parents
While he witnessed quite a lot at such a young age, watching how the media handled situations with his parents definitely inspired how he would parent.
He explained to Eugene: “Growing up, I saw that with my parents. The media were so insatiable back then. It’s hard to think of it now, but they were much more insatiable.
“They wanted every bit of detail they could absorb. And they were in everything, literally everywhere. They would know things and they would be everywhere.”
But having experienced all of that, William remained determined that he would “fight against” it if it were to happen to his family.
William added: “If you let that creep in, the damage it can do to your family life is something that I vowed would never happen to my family.
“And so, I take a very strong line about where I think that line is. Those who overstep it, I will fight against.”
