FRANTIC CALL UNDER FIRE — Cops Question Nancy Guthrie’s Associates as Search Direction Quietly Shifts

THE investigation into missing Nancy Guthrie is now focusing in on people who may have known her, according to reports.

Nancy, 84, was last seen Saturday night at her home in the Tucson area of Arizona. She was reported missing Sunday.

Pima County Sheriff’s Department detectives are now said to be investigating people known to Nancy as possible perpetrators of her abduction, sources told the New York Post.

Officers have said they have not completely ruled out the idea that the attack was carried out by kidnappers, but they are also now looking closer to home as well and will be “following every lead”, according to the outlet.

It comes after it emerged Nancy – the mother of Today show host Savannah – has not been to the church in Tuscon, Arizona in person “for years”.

That’s despite police confirming she was reported missing after a worried congregation member called her family when she did not show at St

A source told the Daily Mail that Nancy has not actually been seen in person since the Covid pandemic, and that she has been worshipping ‘online’.

Church leaders said they could not “quantify or confirm” if anyone from the church made the call to report Nancy as missing.

“All we can tell you is that Nancy has been a member here for many years. She’s part of our community and we love her,” said Ed Coates, administrative assistant at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

“We’re praying for her. And that’s really all that we have to say right now. I’m sure the media will know before we will, you know, how the story unfolds, but we’re praying for her safety and praying for her family.”

He added that he would not be drawn on whether Nancy attended in person every week at the church.

“Well, a lot of the older folks in particular like to worship online, particular those that have mobility issues. So it’s just as likely that might have been the case rather than here in person. But once again, that’s not something that we can quantify,” he added, saying he would also not speak on whether it was a member of the congregation who initially alerted police.

NO SUSPECTS

So far police have no leads with no named suspects being made known publicly.

“We have nothing else to go on but the belief that she is here, she’s present, she’s alive, and we want to save her,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC.

Several purported ransom notes have been sent to news outlets, according to reports, with one sent to TMZ even going so far as to demand millions of dollars in bitcoin in return for Nancy’s release.

Arizona police say they are continuing to investigate those notes – while also narrowing focus on people known to Nancy as they try to identify suspects.

‘SHE HAD NO ENEMIES’

One source told the Daily Mail did not know who called the family, but said Nancy was ‘known and loved in the whole community.’

And others also spoke of their fears for the grandmother, saying she had no enemies.

“Anybody who knows her and has met her loves her,” said friend Mary Ann Blevins to The New York Post.

“I don’t think she has any enemies and that’s why this whole thing is very scary.”

The 84-year-old hasn’t been seen since she was dropped off at her Tucson, Arizona home by family on Saturday evening.

On Wednesday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that Nancy’s son-in-law Tommaso Cioni dropped her off at around 9:45 pm.

He waited to make sure that she got inside OK, as she suffers from physical ailments which makes walking difficult, Nanos said.

Nancy had been spending the evening with her daughter Annie Guthrie’s family for dinner, and the group had a normal night.

But the following morning, the family was horrified when police say they got a call from a parishioner at Nancy’s church who said she never showed up for service.

At around 12 pm, the family called 911 to report her missing after conducting a wellness check at her home.

They found her wallet, phone, and car untouched, but she was nowhere to be found.

Eerie photographs appear to show drips of blood outside Nancy’s front door, leading to the start of her driveway.

Cops haven’t commented on the disturbing sight, but confirmed all the DNA samples taken from the home have belonged to the owner.

According to the Associated Press, there were signs the property had been forcibly entered.

Investigators are now begging for tips as they review cellphone tower data, surveillance video, and traffic camera footage, the outlet reported

“Our mom is our heart, and our home. She’s 84 years old. Her health, her heart is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine, she needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer,” the Today show co-host, 54, said as she read from a prepared statement.

‘READY TO TALK’

In the gut-wrenching video, Savannah and her elder sister, Annie, were reading from written statements where they thanked supporters for the “prayers for our beloved mom, Nancy.”

“We feel them and we continue to believe that she feels them too,” Savannah said.

Annie added, “We are always going to be merely human, just normal human people who need our mom.

“Mama, mama, if you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you.”

Savannah addressed the online reports about a ransom note from her mother’s alleged kidnappers, saying the family was “ready to talk.”

“We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family we are doing everything that we can,” Savannah said.

“We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated.
