Sian Welby, known for her role on This Morning, couldn’t hide her delight on the ITV programme on Thursday (April 10) as she revealed that Ruby, her 10-month-old daughter, had uttered her first word. The joyful moment came as Sian, who is engaged to Jake Beckett, showcased an endearing video of little Ruby speaking for the first time on the daytime show.
Opening up on This Morning, alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary, Sian recounted the special event, reports the Mirror. She said: “Something amazing happened to me last night. I’ve got little baby Ruby and I’ve been saying a word to her ever since she was born, hoping one day that she would say it back – and last night, she said it back.”
The show aired an adorable snippet featuring Sian greeting her daughter with a cheerful “Hiya!”, followed by Ruby repeating the greeting and subsequently dissolving into laughter.

Last June, Sian, who also hosts Capital Breakfast, shared the news of Ruby’s birth on Instagram, posting an image of her newborn swaddled in a jumper embellished with her name. Alongside the picture, she penned, “Our little Ruby,” sharing the birth of her first child with her fiancé, radio producer Jake Beckett.
As Sian and Dermot step in for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard over the Easter school holidays, viewers have taken to social media to commend their on-screen chemistry. One fan reached out on Instagram, saying: “I am enjoying your partnership with Dermot and have tuned in more this week. Please can this become a regular thing, you are a great presenter. Also love the dress.”

This week on This Morning, Sian struggled to hold back tears as she discussed her father’s battle with dementia during a call-in segment. Offering guidance to those who have family members suffering from the condition, she put forth heartfelt advice, underscoring the importance of dignity and purpose for those afflicted.
She said: “Mums and dads, if they’re the ones with dementia, they still want to feel like a dad. I still ask my dad to help me do things even if I could do it myself. It’s just so he feels like he has his purpose and he is my dad.”
Sian has been open about her father Ian’s diagnosis with dementia previously, and the toll it has taken on her family. Expressing the emotional turmoil it brings, she admitted: “You’re scared to lose a person that you know, it is quite frightening! Like you say, would I want to take a test knowing I could be susceptible to it?”
