Duchess Sophie’s new boho skirt is the ‘royally stylish’ way to beat the heat
The mother of Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex, wowed onlookers in her fabulous bohemian skirt by Lexy London

he Duchess of Edinburgh wowed onlookers at the Devon Country Show last week, rocking a brand new outfit that had a distinctively bohemian edge.
The 61-year-old royal wore a delightful, paisley-printed skirt by Lexy London. Identified by the Instagram fashion account, Royal British Fashion, the dazzling skirt had a price tag of £160 from the independent brand and was made in a bold terracotta colour.

Described as a ‘true workhorse in your wardrobe’, the flattering shape is the comfortable way to wear a skirt in the blistering heatwave the UK is currently experiencing. Despite the flowing hem, the skirt has a fixed waistband that nestled comfortably on her hips, and the Kent-born royal accessorised it with a low-slung, gold glittering belt.

Sienna is a longtime fan of the boho skirt
Also known as a gypsy skirt, loved by the world’s most well-known boho queen, Sienna Miller, this style is ideal for when the weather gets warmer, as the often voluminous cut traps cool air, while the open bottom acts as an almost escape route for heat. Respectable, royal style, but make it weather-friendly.
Sophie’s busy week
Prince Edward’s wife has had a busy week, also stepping out at the Chelsea Flower Show. The blonde royal attended alongside Edward and opted for a candy pink outfit from luxury brand Theory, in the form of a pair of tailored trousers, with a matching trench coat in the same pastel hue.

The trench featured a tie-waist belt, which Sophie removed for a more streamlined look, and the wide-leg cut of her trousers also helped to create an elongated silhouette.

Sophie carried a new raffia bag by Radley London
Underneath, the Duchess added the ‘California’ shirt by Soler London, which featured a bright pattern and a collared neck. It seems to be a favourite of Sophie’s lately, as she also wore it with a corduroy pencil skirt on day three of The Royal Windsor Horse Show the week before.
For the Flower Show, Sophie dressed down her ensemble with wedge espadrilles by Penelope Chilvers and a new bag from Radley, the ‘Golborne’ style, featuring raffia sides.
