Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left in tears as an Icon message was sent to Ellie Goldstein during the results show, with many also commending Craig Revel Horwood’s comments

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have applauded one of the programme’s judges for their support of Ellie Goldstein as they declared ‘how can anyone not’ champion her in the contest.

The model and actress was once more spotted dazzling in the ballroom on Saturday evening (October 25) having secured her place through to week five with her professional dance partner Vito Coppol

It marked the second-ever Icons Week on the popular BBC One dance programme, with Ellie embodying Baby Spice – otherwise known as Emma Bunton – for her and Vito’s salsa to a Spice Girls’ medley.

Following their routine, for which they earned a decent 28 points, Claudia Winkleman disclosed that she had a special surprise for Ellie.

“Ellie, we know you love the Spice Girls,” the co-presenter started. “We know you love Baby Spice. Somebody really, really wants to send you a message,” she continued, as Ellie appeared visibly shocked and told Vito: “I can’t believe that!”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

In a video message, singer and radio presenter Emma said: “I have been watching you every week – and you’re my favourite. And then I heard that I’m your favourite Spice Girl!”.

“I’m honoured, and I just want to tell you – I think you are a superstar. Thank you so much for dancing to our songs, the other girls are sending all their love and good luck with the scores!”.

However, it was Craig’s remarks that sparked discussion amongst fans. “I love the energy,” he commented, before revealing that he believes Ellie requires more hip rotation, which was met with a chorus of boos from the audience.

He continued to say that he would like to see improved transitions from Ellie, but acknowledged the incredible personality she brings to the dance floor.

In a rare occurrence, Strictly fans commended Craig for his constructive feedback aimed at helping Ellie improve, while others continued to celebrate her and Vito’s delightful partnership.
