The teenager and his friend were on a three-day camping trip in a popular national park when they became separated.

The body of a 16-year-old boy has been found after the teenager disappeared during a camping trip in the Blue Mountains.
Two boys, aged 16 and 17, were set to make a three-day camping trip to Mt Hay, located in the Blue Moutains, on Tuesday afternoon.
They travelled to Leura train station before making their camping journey on foot.
Emergency ervies have discovered the body of a teenager who disappeared during a camping trip. .
However, the two boys became separated about 5.45pm Wednesday, prompting the 17-year-old to set off his personal beacon.
Emergency services launched a land and air search for the boys, with assistance from Blue Mountains rescue squad, Polair, NSW Ambulance paramedics, and the TOLL rescue helicopter.
They located the 17-year-old and he was winched to safety from the Acacia Flats camping ground, but his 16-year-old friend could not be found.

Police say the body of the missing boy was found in a creek in Blue Gum Forest at the Blue Mountains National Park – about 15km away from where the boys began their trip – at about 1pm on Thursday.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted in the next few days to determine the cause of the boy’s death.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
