“Over the past two decades, this extraordinary space has enabled Evelina London to care for nearly three times as many children and young people as when it first opened. It is a place that symbolises love, healing and hope and has had such an impact on countless lives.

“As I know from my visits, the building’s bright, welcoming spaces and wonderful light-filled atrium ensure children feel safe, supported and nurtured as they face whatever challanges lie ahead.

“What makes this building so special is the remarkable staff, whose compassion and expertise shine through in every corner of the hospital, and create an environment where families feel cared for and uplifted.”

She concluded by saying: “Looking ahead, I am filled with hope for Evelina’s future. As it continues to grow, even more children will benefit from the world-class care that defines Evelina, a place where healing begins with connection, and every child is cherished.”

Kate’s letter comes just a few days after William returned from awarding his Earthshot Prize in Brazil.

Whilst in Brazil, William revealed how he dealt with telling their three children about the health issues their mother and grandmother were having.

The comments mark a rare discussion for the Waleses, and he went on to speak about how the family managed the emotional impact of the serious illness.

“Every family goes through difficult times and faces challenges together. How you deal with those moments makes all the difference,” he told Brazilian media.

He continued: “We decided to tell our children everything, both the good news and the bad. We explain to them why certain things happen and why they might feel upset.

“Many questions might come up without answers – I think all parents go through that. There’s no rulebook for being a parent, and we chose to talk about everything.”
