King Charles allegedly once “scolded” his youngest son, Prince Harry, for not heeding his advice regarding Meghan Markle’s familial issues with her father, according to a Royal author.

Prior to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 2018 Windsor wedding, Meghan reportedly had a falling out with her father, Thomas Markle, after it was revealed that he had staged paparazzi photos of himself.

This disagreement led to Thomas not only missing the Royal wedding, resulting in King Charles stepping in to walk Meghan down the aisle, but also continuing to give media interviews. These interviews, including a marathon nine-hour session with The Mail on Sunday, saw Thomas making headline-grabbing statements.

The family feud between Meghan and her father became a public spectacle, with Thomas even claiming that Princess Diana would have “loathed’ how Meghan was treating him.

His continued comments, which included criticisms of the Royal Family and the Firm, annoyed King Charles – who was The Prince of Wales at the time.

According to author Tom Bower, Charles wanted Harry and Meghan to see Thomas Markle to put the dispute to bed, and even suggested this when they all spent a holding at the Castle of Mey.

His ongoing remarks, which included criticisms of the Royal Family and the Firm, irked King Charles – who was then the Prince of Wales.

Author Tom Bower reports that Charles wanted Harry and Meghan to meet with Thomas Markle to resolve the dispute, and even suggested this during their stay at the Castle of Mey – coinciding with the week Meghan’s father’s interviews were published, reports the Express.

As cited by The Daily Mail, Mr. Bower stated: “That week his irritation about Thomas Markle’s TV interviews, especially his criticism of the Royal Family came to a head.

“‘Can’t she just go and see him and make this stop?’ Charles ‘berated’ Harry.”

The author shared that Meghan and Harry expressed their hesitation to visit her father due to privacy concerns and other issues, with the Duchess reportedly feeling misunderstood by the Royal family.

Bower also revealed that while at the castle, Harry and Meghan participated in a conference call with the late Queen and Charles, where it was proposed that Meghan should travel to America to mend fences with her father.

According to the author, Meghan dismissed the idea, arguing that it would cause more harm than good due to the media frenzy it would incite. Bower suggests that Charles and the late Queen were left “perplexed” by her reasoning and behavior.

Meghan Markle remains estranged from her father, confessing to Oprah Winfrey in 2021 – a year after stepping away from Royal duties with Prince Harry – that she felt she “lost” her father when she became a Royal.
