Prince Harry’s latest visit to the UK was meant to send a clear message to his brother, and wasn’t an attempt by the Duke of Sussex to overshadow the Prince of Wales’ work, sources have claimed. The Duke of Sussex spent four days in his home country last week, attending various engagements linked to his charities.

He also met with King Charles for less than an hour at Clarence House. Meanwhile, Prince William was travelling around the country attending his own engagements. Now, new reports claim that the Duke’s visit, which was seen as successful by several royal watchers, did not go unnoticed at the Palace, following the short supply of working royals to juggle the workload.

Sources claimed that Harry’s visit was not about overshadowing William but more about showing that the Duke can help the Firm whenever needed.

They told the Daily Mail: “Harry’s visit to the UK was not about trying to show up or compete with his brother – in fact, the opposite.

“It was to remind William that Harry can be there to take some of the load off, given some of the criticism William has received for carrying out a lower number of engagements than his father.

“That doesn’t need to be as part of the ‘working’ Royal Family. It can just be doing what he loves to do and does best – supporting causes close to them both, such as the Diana Award and conservation.

“More than anything, though, he wants to see his father more. He wants to make him proud and be there to support him through his treatment.”

Harry spent a little less than an hour at Clarence House sharing private tea with the King.

No details of the meeting were disclosed, and the Duke did not share anything during his interview with the Guardian a few days later.

But he did stress that the focus should be on his father now more than ever.

He told the newspaper: “The focus really has to be on my dad.”
