Martin Frizell has confirmed his return to the broadcasting world after leaving his position as editor of This Morning to care for his wife, Fiona Phillips, who is battling Alzheimer’s.
Taking to Instagram, the 66-year-old former ITV boss revealed his new project: a weekly podcast called This Much Is True Crime, set to launch soon, although no official release date has been confirmed.
Addressing his 9,468 followers, Martin teased the podcast’s upcoming release, stating: “Takes a prolific serial killer to knock Adolescence off the No1 Netflix spot.
“Gone Girls profiles America’s modern day Jack the Ripper and his body count may not be over yet!
“Coming soon is This Much is True Crime, a new weekly podcast with Britains leading criminologist (and serial killer expert) Prof David Wilson and me (Fred West and many other crime reports).”, reports the Express.

“If it’s in the headlines or the ratings, we’re talking about it. We start with Gone Girls. Not just a whodunnit but a whydunnit?”.
This new development follows Martin’s departure from This Morning earlier this year, allowing him to dedicate more time to caring for his wife, former GMTV presenter Fiona, who received her Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2022.
In a statement regarding his exit, he mentioned: “Next year I’m expecting my family priorities to change so I need to free up time for them.”

He added, “I love my team at ITV and will miss them and the thrill of live telly but it’s an always on, 24 hours a day, seven days a week commitment and I won’t be able to do both.”
As of March 3, Vivek Sharma has stepped into Martin’s shoes on the This Morning show.
For the past 15 months, Vivek has held the position of associate editor on the network’s leading daytime programme.
