The Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer in 2024
The Royal Marsden Hospital has expressed its gratitude to Princess Kate following her generous donation of a Christmas tree from the recent “Together at Christmas” Carol Service at Westminster Abbey.
The hospital also acknowledged Stephen Phair from Premier Plants for contributing the decorations and arranging them.
In an Instagram post, the hospital wrote: “Thank you to HRH The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden with HRH The Prince of Wales, for donating a majestic Christmas tree from the ‘Together at Christmas’ Carol Service, held at Westminster Abbey earlier this month.”
Visitors can now admire the festive display at the Oak Cancer Centre entrance in Sutton.

This gesture follows the princess’s visit to the Ever After Garden last Saturday, a memorial space located at the Royal Marsden’s Chelsea site.
During her time there, Kate placed a white rose bearing the inscription: “In loving memory of all those who have lost their lives to cancer.”
The garden, which has been running for six years, contains more than 30,000 flowers tended by approximately 400 volunteers.
The princess also met with volunteers and shared her appreciation on social media, writing: “Every flower, every light, is a memory held together, an illumination of shared love, remembrance, and hope.”

Kate received her cancer diagnosis in 2024 and is currently in remission from the disease.
The princess, who serves as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden alongside Prince William, is gradually resuming her public duties.
Her hospital visit occurred just one day after King Charles revealed positive news regarding his own cancer treatment.
The Ever After Garden initiative has proved remarkably successful in its fundraising efforts, generating £1.6million for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The memorial encourages visitors to dedicate a rose to someone they have lost, with all proceeds supporting the charity’s vital work.
The King’s announcement came during the Stand Up To Cancer live show, where he stated: “Today I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to doctors’ orders, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the new year.”
His Majesty also urged the public to take advantage of cancer screening opportunities, noting that nine million such chances go unused.
The royal message prompted a substantial response, with Cancer Research UK reporting approximately 100,000 visits to its new screening checker tool, launched on December 5, with most traffic arriving after the King’s broadcast.
