An Australian mum was in Bali for less than 24 hours before she was left fighting for her life as her family works to bring her home.

Alivia Jane Campbell, a 28-year-old mother-of-two from the NSW Central Coast, had travelled to the tourist hotspot on Thursday night.
She met up with friends the next morning and ducked out to pick up a few things, but was gone for too long.

“I felt like something’s wrong. I had a really bad feeling,” her close friend, Reese Campbell, told nine.com.au from Bali.
Her friends checked her location to find she was at the hospital.
Alivia had been on a motorbike that collided head-on with a truck.
A good Samaritan, who had been getting a tattoo across the road, ran to provide CPR before calling paramedics.
Alivia was left with severe brain trauma, a broken femur and a fractured hip.
She is currently in an induced coma in critical but stable condition. She has undergone surgery but requires another one in a few weeks.
“She’s fighting so hard,” Reese said.
“Every day we’re getting better news, which is making me feel a lot better, but it’s a very, very hard sight to see. She’s still not looking great.
“She might not be able to walk again, and she’s gonna have lots of recovery and therapy.”

Alivia has been described as beloved, vibrant and a caring mother to her two girls.
“She’s very funny, very vibrant, very active,” her brother David Campbell told nine.com.au.
“Very social. She has lots of friends, is a very caring mother to her girls,” her sister-in-law Sophie Campbell said.
“She’s my best friend. We call each other sisters. We’ve got the same last name, so we tell everyone we are. She’s literally the best person and friend I’ve ever had in my whole life,” Reese said.
Alivia’s dad has travelled to Bali to join Reese by her side. Her family in Australia have been coordinating ways to help her.
“Best case scenario, we can transfer her to an Australia-based hospital in Bali, and then once she is out of her coma, we are looking to get her home, but obviously right now it’s not safe to fly her anywhere,” Sophie said.
“It’s a very layered situation in terms of grief, because we’re trying to accept Liv’s condition and if she’ll make it, but we’re also trying to support her from afar.”

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson confirmed it was “providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian in Bali”.
But the medical bills are piling up.
Reese has set up a page on GoFundMe to raise money for Alivia’s current and ongoing treatment and help bring her home to her family.
So far, it has amassed over $71,000 in donations from people across the world.
David said the family are overwhelmed and touched by the support.
“We’re very grateful for everybody who has pitched in in any way possible that they can to support this, because it’s a changing case, hour by hour,” he said.
