Sarah Ferguson has given the ultimate signal that she is moving on from the latest scandal by removing all reference to her former royal title from official paperwork. Prince Andrew and Sarah were styled as the Duke and Duchess of York until their divorce in 1996, when Sarah became known as Sarah, Duchess of York.

After Buckingham Palace confirmed that both Andrew and Sarah would no longer use their titles in public on Friday, Fergie has quickly adjusted, as she has changed how she is referred to in Companies House paperwork.

While she has yet to change the details of every active business, on the listing for her company, La Luna Investments Limited, she is now described as Sarah Margaret Ferguson.

Sarah has a number of businesses active on Companies House, with La Luna Investments Limited described only as a private limited company, whose business support service activities are not classified.

It comes after Sarah changed her social media accounts to remove references to her former title. While she was previously known on X under the handle @SarahTheDuchess, she has since changed her username to @SarahMFergie15 to reflect the change.

Despite this, at time of writing, her banner image still prominently displays the title ‘Sarah, Duchess of York’, in a promo picture for her latest Flora & Fern children’s book series.

The news that Sarah would no longer be styled using her former title was made by Buckingham Palace on Friday when it was confirmed that Prince Andrew had decided to no longer use his Duke of York title in a public capacity.

The decision also applies to Sarah, who has used the title ‘Duchess of York’ for more than three decades, even after her 1996 divorce from Prince Andrew.

In a statement from Buckingham Palace, Prince Andrew said: “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.

“I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”
