“Aquí en México todos los días te levantas con noticias lamentables, son tantas que la sociedad se ha acostumbrado a escuchar que han encontrado fosas clandestinas, que hay desaparecidos, y yo pienso en este momento que si ya vivimos con eso no hay por qué llevarlo a la música, que la música sea un escape”, declaró para el medio Efe.
Esta decisión surgió después de que José Luis iniciara su carrera artística con temas dedicados a la violencia, a las pandillas y el narcomenudeo, factores que lo acompañaron desde su infancia.
El intérprete de Toma 1 considera que los corridos tumbados o los narcocorridos, en los cuales se enaltecen este tipo de situaciones, son creados por personas que viven en otros países como Estados Unidos, pues no tienen el contexto de la violencia y de lo que significa en el país. ”Hoy en día son muy pocos los artistas que viven en México los que se dedican a hacer los narcocorridos o corridos tumbados, porque los que vivimos aquí sabemos cómo está la situación”, aseguró.
