Prince Harry, Princess Kate and King Charles appear to have discovered common ground in their concerns about digital technology’s impact on society.
The Princess of Wales recently penned an essay addressing what she termed an “epidemic of disconnection”, cautioning about excessive screen time’s effects on children’s development.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken their advocacy further, adding their names to an open letter demanding restrictions on artificial intelligence superintelligence, joining various celebrities and political figures in the campaign.
During a Manchester visit this week to meet emergency responders who attended a synagogue terror incident, King Charles expressed his own views on “the ghastliness of social media”.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond acknowledged these parallel campaigns, telling the Mirror: “All three, Charles, William and Harry are becoming more vocal about the dangers of social media.”
Ms Bond praised the royals’ advocacy as “a valid and impactful use of their platforms”.
Harry and the King finding common ground comes a month after they met for a private 55-minute tea at Clarence House.
The meeting reportedly went smoothly, raising hopes that the Sussexes might mend their relationship with the Royal Family through quiet negotiations behind Palace walls.

However, the path to reconciliation faces significant obstacles.
Referring to the Sussexes and the King uniting against the dangers of social media, Ms Bond explained: “I don’t think it has any bearing on a full reconciliation between the King and Harry.”
The royal commentator believes any progress towards mending the family divide must remain private to succeed.
“Hopefully that is still quietly bubbling on behind the scenes, which is exactly where it must remain if there is to be any hope of seeing them together again,” Ms Bond explained.

Ms Bond reflected on a poignant moment during the King’s Vatican visit, suggesting Charles’s prayers with the Pope may have included thoughts of both sons.
She referenced the monarch’s previous plea to his children not to “make my final years a misery”.
The timing proves particularly challenging, with Harry having already returned to America whilst Charles continues fulfilling sovereign responsibilities, leaving minimal opportunity for addressing their strained relationship amidst the Andrew controversy.
Ms Bond emphasised the monarch’s current predicament: “I do think the King has enough on his plate at the moment with the Andrew crisis and his work as Sovereign, there can’t be much room left in his head to deal with his younger son.”

The monarch finds himself embroiled in a fresh crisis involving Prince Andrew, whose recent decision to relinquish his royal titles follows renewed scrutiny from Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir detailing alleged sexual encounters when she was 17.
Prince Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing.
Ms Bond suggested these mounting pressures leave the King with limited capacity to address the fractured relationship with his younger son, despite their recent positive encounter.
