BBC legend “Whispering” Bob Harris has given an update on Dolly Parton, as the country music legend, approaches her 80th birthday on January 19. Just days ago the I Will Always Love You singer made a heartbreaking health admission when she revealed that, due to some challenges, she will no longer be able to attend her 80th birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry.

However, Bob has revealed that fans will be able to get their Dolly fix on his BBC Radio 2 programme, The Country Show, has given him an exclusive. Taking to Instagram he shared an image from a monitor of him and Dolly being filmed as they larked about. Captioning it he wrote: “We love @dollyparton very much on the Country Show and this week we will be celebrating this amazing woman’s 80th birthday. She has a landmark new single coming out soon and it’s incredible – a song the world needs right now. I am thrilled that Dolly has given us the exclusive first UK play on @bbcradio2 this Thursday.

“We’ll also be reliving the lovely, reflective conversation she and I had in London as we both approach the later stages of our lives. I hope you’re able to listen. 9pm on Thursday. Please join us for what I think is going to be a very special moment. She is a force for good in the world…”

Dolly has had a series of health struggles since the death of her husband Carl Dean at the age of 82 in March 2005.

In November last year she missed the Dollywood induction ceremony into the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA)’s Hall of Fame.

The singer was forced to virtually accept her Tennessee-based theme park’s honour on Monday November 17 as she apologised to her followers.

This came after Dolly went public with health issues in October when she was forced to postpone an upcoming residency in Las Vegas, which had been due to kick off in December.

In a social media statement, the Jolene hitmaker admitted: “I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts.

“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.

“As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!” shew quipped.
