Kate Middleton has shed light on Prince Louis’ future plans

On Thursday (October 2), Princess Kate visited RAF Coningsby for the first time since becoming Royal Honorary Air Commodore of the base in 2023.

Here, the princess found out about the station’s operations. She also met station personnel and their families and was shown the Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft, which protects the UK’s airspace.

Not only that, the princess – who looked stunning clad in a dove grey suit – got the opportunity to perform a loop-the-loop in a flight simulator at the Typhoon Future Synthetic Training Facility.

It was here that she shed light on Prince Louis’ big plans.

Despite being the Prince and Princess of Wales’ youngest child, Prince Louis already is very keen on following in his father Prince William and uncle Prince Harry’s aviation footsteps.

Princess Kate began her trip to the RAF base by arriving by helicopter. She then had a private briefing from Group Captain Paul O’Grady and Warrant Officer Nikki Nolan.

Kate learned about RAF Coningsby’s involvement in Operation Shader in the Middle East and Operation Eastern Sentry, which is reportedly helping to boost NATO presence along its Eastern flank.

The princess then visited the Quick Reaction Alert hangar to view a Typhoon with Wing Commander Luke ‘Wilko’ Wilkinson.

It was peering inside at the technology of the military fighter plane that prompted her to share something about her youngest son.

She explained that Louis is keen on becoming a fighter pilot, but that she will give him a serious warning about what that entails.

She said: “I’m going to tell them (George, Charlotte and Louis) it takes eight years and a lot of hard work.”

One team member mentioned how Kate’s children are all very excited about her visiting the base and presented her with three model Typhoons.

They said: “Somebody told us that your children were very excited about you seeing a plane.”

The princess replied: “They’ll be very upset that I’ve seen a Typhoon without them.”

There, instructor Geraint White invited her to step inside the flight simulator.

“Would you like a go?” he asked.

Princess Kate replied: “Yes, I’d love to.”

Kate then shared that she had not used a simulator to fly a plane before, but had tried one used to train helicopter pilots.

Afterwards, Group Captain Paul O’Grady said: “She seems to be a natural pilot so we might have to get her qualified and get her flying a Typhoon, if she’s up for it.”
