Queen Camilla and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, were seen wearing three poppies as they overlooked the Cenotaph, while Princess Kate only wore one.
The Princess of Wales has worn three in the past, but chose to wear a solo poppy today, as royal watchers question why.
One theory is that the royals wear multiple poppies in honour of family members who have fought and died in conflict; however, this has never been confirmed by the Palace.
Kate’s great-grandmother had three brothers who were all killed in action during World War One.

Other Royal Family female members have worn multiple poppies in the past, with the late Queen infamously wearing five, which many believed was her way of paying tribute to the five branches of service.
These include the Royal Navy, the army and the Royal Air Force.
King Charles led the nation in remembrance at the Cenotaph, alongside Prince William and Prince Edward, taking part in the annual National Service of Remembrance.

Sir Keir Starmer also laid a wreath at the Cenotaph during the Service of Remembrance.
The serving Prime Minister was followed by Conservative leader and Leader of the Opposition Kemi Badenoch, as well as Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey.
Prince William additionally laid a wreath at the Cenotaph, as he stood alongside senior members of the Royal Family and representatives of the Armed Forces.

Queen Camilla took a senior position on the central Remembrance Sunday balcony beside Princess Kate.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Edinburgh was seen comforting the Duke of Kent on the left balcony in an emotional moment between the two royals.
Prince Edward, Duke of Kent’s appearance on Remembrance Sunday comes two months after his wife, Katharine, died at the age of 92.

The Duke of Kent has a lengthy history in military services.
From his graduation at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1955, he was commissioned into the Royal Scots Greys as a Second Lieutenant.
His Royal Highness served with the Regiment for over 20 years, including Cyprus and Northern Ireland.
He served as a Colonel of the Scots Guards from 1974 for 50 years until 2024, when he handed over Colonelcy of the Regiment to Prince Edward.
