Prince Harry has denied claims that he tried to upstage Prince William by announcing his Toronto trip just as his estranged brother arrived in Brazil for The Earthshot Prize 2025. Harry, like his brother William, is in for a busy week as he is set to jet to Canada, while William spends the next few days in South America.
While Harry, 41, has reportedly had this Toronto trip in the diary for some time, he received some backlash for announcing it on the same day William arrived in Brazil. The announcement also revealed that the Duke would be carrying out engagements at the same time as William – something that has been claimed to be an unintentional diary clash from Harry.
After backlash about the timing of the Toronto trip, Harry’s team in California have set the record straight, making it clear that the Duke has not purposely tried to overshadow his brother’s royal trip.

A spokesperson for The Duke of Sussex also said that Harry is in Canada this week for Remembrance events – the dates of which Harry has no power over.
They said: “The events were planned nearly a year ago. The date of the main event, the dinner, is set by the charity, not Prince Harry.

The spokesperson continued: “We are always guided – as to when we can announce trips like this, by the advice given to us by his private security advisers and the event’s security team.
“This visit, months in the planning, marks a return to a city that has a special place in the Duke’s heart, having played host to the Invictus Games back in 2017.”
Prince William has not commented on the clash of his brother’s announcement this week; however, one royal expert believes it could have caused a “further chill” in their already tense relationship.
