A tragic incident unfolded on Dorset’s Southbourne Beach after a woman suffered a medical emergency while in the sea and later died despite desperate rescue efforts.
Members of the public managed to bring her ashore before paramedics and other emergency personnel arrived.
Witnesses Describe Lengthy Rescue Attempt

Locals near the beach said the woman had been swimming with her son before the emergency occurred.
One witness recalled seeing large numbers of emergency personnel at the scene, while another said resuscitation efforts continued for a considerable time.
Despite the response, the woman was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
Police and Air Ambulance Called to Southbourne
Dorset Police were called shortly after 2:20 p.m. to help clear an area along Southbourne promenade so emergency services could work safely.
An air ambulance was also dispatched and was seen leaving the beach several hours later.
The woman’s family has been informed of the tragedy.
Heatwave Warnings Issued Across Britain
The incident comes as the Met Office warns of exceptionally high temperatures across parts of the country.
Forecasters have issued a red warning for extreme heat, with some regions expected to experience temperatures approaching levels rarely seen in the United Kingdom.
Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
