Princess Kate and Prince William are thought to have been taking part in a weekly pub quiz near one of their royal residences, joining other players under the name Team Wales.
The Prince and Princess of Wales and their two eldest children, Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 10, are said to attend the event together on a regular basis.
The quiz, held at a local pub, attracts strong competition and is known among regulars for its difficult questions.
One rival participant said: “The quiz is actually very tricky but also a lot of fun.”
They continued to tell the Sun: “My lips are sealed on whether ‘Team Wales’ has ever won first prize.”
The family’s interest in quizzes stretches back years. William and Kate were known to join local events when they lived in Anglesey after their 2011 wedding.
During the Covid lockdowns, Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, organised family quiz nights over video call to keep everyone connected.
Both the Prince and Princess have strong academic backgrounds. They graduated from the University of St Andrews, where they first met as students.

Their children attend Lambrook School near Ascot in Berkshire, one of the country’s leading preparatory schools.

Prince William has spoken in the past about his strengths and weaknesses when it comes to general knowledge.

In an interview on Apple TV+ with actor Eugene Levy last week, he admitted that he struggles with history and said George is “way better”.
The Prince has, however, shown strong football knowledge on previous occasions.
Appearing on TNT Sports ahead of last season’s Champions League match between Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain, he impressed pundits with his command of team facts and tactics.
Both William and Kate are known to enjoy low-key social events with friends and neighbours when their schedules allow.
Locals describe them as approachable and polite, often seen engaging in ordinary community activities with their children.
The Wales family are believed to keep score competitively during the pub quiz, which includes rounds on popular culture, science and geography.
The atmosphere is said to be relaxed, with prizes such as bottles of wine or restaurant vouchers for the winning team.
The Prince and Princess balance public duties with family life at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, where they have lived since 2022. The quiz nights are thought to take place at a venue within easy reach of their home.
The Waleses are due to move into Forest Lodge later this year, marking an upgrade in size for the family.
Both William and Kate have often spoken about encouraging curiosity and learning within their household.
Their participation in local events such as this is seen as part of their effort to give their children as normal an upbringing as possible while still preparing them for their future public roles.
