Our Farm Next Door star Amanda Owen has spoken about the renovation of Anty John’s farmhouse
Our Farm Next Door star Amanda Owen has shared a disappointing farming update. The Yorkshire Shepherdess lives and works at Ravenseat Farm with her former partner Clive and their nine children.
Their debut documentary series, Our Yorkshire Farm, debuted on Channel 5 in 2018 and has subsequently become one of the broadcaster’s most popular shows. In 2024, Channel 4 commissioned a ten-part series titled Our Farm Next Door, which followed the family as they transformed a two-century-old farmhouse nestled in the Yorkshire Dales.
The second series was broadcast last year, with a fresh instalment scheduled to air on More 4 this evening (Monday, January 19) at 9pm. Prior to the new series launching, Amanda appeared on today’s edition of This Morning alongside two of her daughters, Clemmy and Nancy.
During their conversation with presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about their recent endeavours, Amanda delivered a somewhat disheartening update regarding Anty John’s. Ben enquired: “The other thing that’s a big character in the new series, of course, is the new house, which is called Anty John’s. Can you tell us a bit about the history of the house, Amanda, because it’s an extraordinary [building]. Where it is is just extraordinary,” reports the Express.

An image of the property was subsequently displayed on screen, with Amanda elaborating: “Yeah, it was a derelict house. We bought it during the COVID lockdown, and it’s a renovation project. Again, everything that goes against it is it’s in a National Park, it’s a listed building, so there are certain parameters within which you can work.”
Acknowledging that completion remains some way off, the star continued: “So, it is a very slow job. The whole idea is to put the house back to how it would have been, keeping the integrity and the heritage of it alive, but also making it something that is liveable and workable. Nothing too contrived or anything like that. But it is a slow project, a very slow project. [The kids] are all involved in it. Talk about keeping busy.”
Clemmy then disclosed that they were presently planning a cupboard bed within the property, which Nancy immediately claimed for herself. “I want the most strangest bed,” she declared.
“They’ve all been involved to a certain degree, but this week, we’re putting the water supply in,” Amanda continued, with Nancy interrupting to add: “I mean, who wouldn’t want to sleep in a cupboard?”

Amanda then disclosed the fascinating aspect of installing their water supply, explaining: “It involves a lot of shovelling. It involves literally coming from a spring. We were in a hotel last night in London, and there was a little shout from a certain somebody who was getting into the bath. [She] shouted to me, ‘Mum! The water, it’s see-through!’ It’s spring water, it’s Yorkshire’s finest. It gives you the tan.”
Pointing towards her daughters, she continued: “You’ve been painting walls, you’ve been tidying up, and goodness knows what.” The television personality went on to share that several of their horses might be permitted inside the property, though only if they can physically fit through the doors.
This update follows Amanda’s recent health update concerning a cherished member of the family, just months after a devastating bereavement. On Sunday (January 18), the star disclosed that their pet dog, Sprout, had been struggling emotionally after mourning the passing of her canine companion, Chalky.
The new series of Our Farm Next Door premieres tonight (Monday, January 19) at 9pm on More4
