Princess Catherine has left fans in tears today with her kind gesture when visiting a leading cancer hospital. The Princess of Wales, 44, stepped out solo in Manchester today to visit The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, which is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres.
The centre looks after more than 60,000 cancer patients a year, offering complementary and holistic therapies including art classes, a wellbeing garden and a chaplaincy service fee of charge. Catherine, who was diagnosed and treated for cancer in 2024, spent time talking to staff and patients at the centre. This includes Claire Lorente, 30, who rang the bell to signal the end of her cancer treatment.
Catherine stood by Claire and her husband Pablo to watch her ring the bell and mark the end of a “tough” journey.
Catherine, who has been in remission since early 2025, hugged Claire and told her: “Well done…What a journey, it’s been a tough one.”
The future Queen also hugged Claire’s husband, telling him: “Well done. I know it’s just as hard for family and loved ones.”
The moment was caught on camera and shared online, with many royal fans left in tears at the emotional moment.
One person wrote on X: “She truly cares about people. This isn’t just a photo op for her. It never was but now it’s even more meaningful and important to Catherine. She’s truly wonderful.”
Someone else said: “To see the Princess of Wales genuinely caring and feeling all the emotions just has me smiling through tears.”
Another fan commented: “Wow, I’m bawling like a baby. She really seems to care!”
Someone else wrote: “Can’t see my screen – such love and respect…”
Catherine looked delighted to be with Claire to mark the end of Claire’s cancer treatment, and appeared visibly moved to see Claire and her husband emotionally embrace after ringing the bell.
The princess spoke about how hard cancer treatment can be for patients and their families, referencing her own experience.
