The son of Atlanta rapper Young Scooter is speaking out in the wake of his father’s death.

Early in the morning on Saturday, March 29, the rapper’s son Kenneth Bailey Jr. shared a series of emotional posts on his Instagram Stories, in which he criticized the Atlanta Police Department (APD) and reacted to his father’s death.

“F— APD,” Bailey began the posts, seemingly alleging that police had lied to him after he asked if his father was okay.

Elsewhere in the posts, he shared that he was “broken into [a] million pieces.”

“[I don’t] wish dis pain on nobody,” Bailey wrote, adding that his dad was a “good” person. “He ain’t deserve this s—.”

“Damn, my best friend gone,” he continued. “Happy Birthday too. I know exactly what to do [for sure though]. You know I got my sisters and brothers, [they’re] overly good. Yo son a hustla just like you, watch [this].”

Bailey then thanked his friends, family and Scooter’s fellow musicians for their support in the hours following his dad’s death.

“I promise [I’m gonna] get back to y’all,” he wrote. “Thank y’all. I’m just tryna stay off this social media s—. Got lame a– blogs lying and s— man. [I don’t] even wanna see nunna dis s—.”

Scooter, born Kenneth Edward Bailey, died on Friday, March 28 — the same day as his 39th birthday.

The APD confirmed in a press conference that a 39-year-old man died after injuring his leg on a fence as he fled from police responding to a 911 call at a home. He was transported to Grady Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Scooter was confirmed as the deceased man, according to reports from 11 Alive, Variety and Atlanta News First, which cited the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office. Police, however, have yet to share the identity of the deceased individual.

Officers originally responded to a 911 call over “a dispute with shots fired and a female being dragged back into the residence,” police said in a press conference, per 11 Alive.

“When officers arrived, a male initially opened the door [then] closed the door in the officers’ faces without communicating,” police said. The officers “established a perimeter,” during which time two men “fled” the premises. One male returned to the home and the other “jumped two fences” while fleeing.

“When officers located him on the other side of the fence, he appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg,“ police added. He was then transported to the hospital.

The APD stated that they couldn’t find the female at the residence and that they did not know why the men fled.

PEOPLE previously reached out to the Atlanta Police Department and the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office for further comment on March 29.

Originally from South Carolina, Scooter began his music career in 2008 and was signed by his childhood friend Future and fellow rapper Waka Flocka Flame in 2013.

Waka Flocka appeared to pay tribute to the late rapper on his Instagram Stories, writing on March 29, “Street, you had me crying before my show … you the backbone … dama brada.”

Rapper Playboi Carti also reacted on his Instagram Stories, writing, “SMFH,” as Quavo wrote on X, “Ion understand,” alongside a video of Scooter performing and broken-heart and prayer-hands emojis.
