Finding out that you’ve suffered a stroke would be scary for anyone, but even more so for the daughter of Snoop Dogg, as she is only 24!

Life is chock-full of surprises, and even those who appear to have everything can face the most unexpected challenges. Recently, Cori Broadus, the daughter of famed rapper-actor Snoop Dogg, provided some disturbing news regarding her struggle with a “severe stroke”. The rapper and his wife, Shante Broadus’ youngest child, who is 24 years old, made the announcement of her medical emergency public on Thursday via her Instagram Story.

It appears from the pictures she shared in several posts that she is receiving treatment following her recent health scare. Not even twenty-five years old, Broadus has battled autoimmune disease and, more recently, the aftereffects of a stroke, which can cause loss of brain and motor function.

Additionally, she had previously disclosed to PEOPLE that she had adopted a more holistic approach to her health after receiving a lupus diagnosis at the age of six.

Snoop Dogg’s Daughter Suffered a ‘Severe  Stroke’

Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, took to social media to share the story of a profoundly devastating event: her debilitating stroke. Such bravery in telling her story shows how strong she is, urging others to speak about their own struggles openly. Following the health scare, the 24-year-old, who is the youngest child of the 52-year-old rapper and his wife Shante Broadus, shared a photo on her Instagram Story from the hospital on Thursday. She penned:

“I had a severe stroke this a.m. I started breaking down crying when they told me. Like I’m only 24, what did I do in my past to deserve all of this.”

Even though the singer has not revealed the cause of her stroke, she has endured a challenging medical journey for years. At the age of six, she was diagnosed with lupus (via PEOPLE). It is an autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune system attacks healthy tissues rather than harmful bacteria and viruses, believing them to be foreign invaders.

It produces inflammation that can impact the blood cells, joints, skin, kidneys, heart, brain, and lungs. Lupus can raise the risk of stroke because it affects many different organs in the body.

Cori Broadus Discussed Her Mental Health

Cori Broadus talked to PEOPLE in September 2023 about her fight with lupus and how her health has improved after changing her lifestyle. She stated:

“I’ve been good, better than I’ve ever been,” 

After a difficult journey that included a suicide attempt in 2021, she said, disclosing that she went “all natural” and later adopted a more holistic approach to her health. To quote her:

“I stopped taking all of my medication like five months ago. I’m just doing everything natural, all types of herbs, sea moss, teas. I started working out, drinking lots of water. So now I think my body’s like, OK, this is the new program and she’s getting used to it.”

According to Broadus, her efforts and changes in lifestyle were bearing fruit. She further explained:

“My body is not achy. When you have lupus, that’s one of the number one things. You have achy joints, you have arthritis. And now I’m like, damn, I’m not complaining about my knees, my feet, my hands, my back.”

Despite the progress, she admitted that she still needs to modify her lifestyle in order to maintain her health. She added:

“It’s continuously a learning process because there’s so much more I could be doing.” 

She emphasizes the significance of identifying the symptoms, regardless of age, by fearlessly sharing her story. Despite all of the challenges she has faced, she never stops smiling (as her Instagram post reveals), and we wish her a quick recovery as she proceeds on her path to wellness.

For the unversed, the youngest child of Snoop Dogg and his wife (Shante Broadus) is a singer. Her parents, who married in 1997, also have three sons.
