Fans of Liam Payne and One Direction were quick to comment on the latest update by former bandmate Louis Tomlinson, saying Liam ‘would be proud’ of his announcement

Fans of Liam Payne were quick to share their thoughts on an announcement by one of his former One Direction bandmates.

Louis Tomlinson took to Instagram to share a message saying: “I’m back,” before telling his fans he will: “See you at Old Trafford on Sunday 15th June.”

Stepping away from his music achievements, Louis is set to lace up his boots once more for this year’s edition of Soccer Aid. It marks his return to the event for the first time in nine years, labelling it a “dream come true”.

Speaking about the game, Louis said: “Manchester! It’s about ten years since I last turned out for Soccer Aid, so I thought it was about time I returned to the pitch. As everyone knows, I am a massive football fan so playing with some legends of the game is a dream come true.”

Other fans were quick to joke they are now football fans following the announcement. One user said: “Suddenly ik about football,” while another wrote: “suddenly I’m the biggest football fan ever.” A third agreed, replying to the comment: “totally me 100%.”

Louis’ younger sister, Phoebe, was also on hand to share her support, simply sending emojis including love heart eyes and hands clapping. Daisy also shared a similar response as her sister, with his followers saying they “love a supportive sister”. His Instagram upload had received over 300,000 likes in three hours.

Louis’ last Soccer Aid appearance saw him end the game on the winning side as the England team beat the Rest of The World 3-2. One highlight of the event, saw Louis shush his former bandmate Niall Horan from the sidelines after England took the lead.
