Prince Harry is said to he hopeful of a reconciliation with his brother Prince William and dad King Charles, which royal expert Tom Bower has branded ‘unrealistic’

Prince Harry could be set for more heartache amidst his ongoing High Court battle over security and woes over his former charity Sentebale.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, is reportedly thinking about reconciling with his family, following the fallout with brother Prince William and his dad King Charles. But, royal expert and Prince Harry biographer Tom Bower, who is planning a new bombshell book on Harry and wife Meghan Markle, said the hopes are ‘unrealistic’. Speaking in an exclusive interview, in which he revealed plans for his bombshell new book which is set to document the couple’s current crisis, Tom explained: “He’s stuck out in California and clinging on to his royal status, as is she.

“Plus, Harry’s thinking is of ‘reconciliation’. That’s just totally unrealistic. There is zero chance of reconciliation because there is irreconcilable anger on the part of William and Kate.”

Royal biographer Tom, who’s previous book on the couple, titled Revenge, became a best seller after its release in 2022, added that Harry has been left deeply hurt by recent events in his life. He said: “They have both been wounded, and what’s fascinating about them is they don’t stop fighting back. And the fight back is just as important as their survival. This battle for survival and the fight for revenge is increasing by the week.”

The author also claimed that while Harry is hopeful for reconciliation, Meghan has other plans. “They have a crisis, because Meghan wants to be a billionaire celebrity and Harry doesn’t understand that world. He just literally can’t understand it, other than [understanding that] Meghan wants to be famous and not in the media all the time,” he said.

“He doesn’t understand what it entails… because he’s spent his whole life never having a penny in his pocket. He’s never regularly travelled on the tube, never had to worry about having a car or a job. So he doesn’t understand where she’s coming from, which is that she worked phenomenally hard, struggled hard, and was constantly humiliated, and wants the security of finance and status. She hasn’t got the status that she craves. She is a Duchess. [But] She hasn’t got the pulling power.”

Relations between Prince Harry, Prince William and King Charles collapsed shortly after Harry’s move to the US, after he announced his decision to step away from his role as a senior working member of the Royal Family in 2020.

Following their step away from The Firm, Harry and Meghan took part in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. The couple also took part in a Netflix documentary about their move away from the Royal Family and Harry released a book, titled Spare, in which he recalled a confrontation with William, 42, in which the Prince of Wales reportedly branded Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive” – which Harry described as “parrot[ing] the press narrative”.

Harry then alleged William: “Grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor.” In an interview to promote the book the Duke of Sussex claimed he would “like to get his brother and father back” – but a mending of their broken bond appears to have not yet taken place.

Earlier this month, Harry claimed his “worst fears were confirmed” about the change in his taxpayer-funded police protection as he spoke out about the latest stage in his court battle over his security arrangements.

The Duke of Sussex has been challenging the dismissal of his High Court claim against the Home Office over the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different degree of protection when in the UK. Harry has argued that he cannot bring his wife Meghan and their two children, Archie and Lilbet, to the UK because they don’t feel safe.

As he attended a two day hearing at the Court of Appeal earlier this month, the Duke of Sussex claimed “people would be shocked by what’s being held back” adding that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case and that’s really sad”.

Meanwhile, he was hit by more heartache recently as he dramatically quit as patron of Sentebale, a charity which helps young people and children in southern Africa, particularly those living with HIV and Aids. Harry co-founded the charity in honour of his mother Princess Diana in 2006 alongside Prince Seeiso of Lesotho – but a boardroom battle erupted at the organisation following a public war of words with its chairwoman Dr Sophie Chandauka.
