During the Phoenix Suns’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 3, Kevin Durant made a surprising choice when asked to name his favorite female athlete for Women’s Empowerment Month.
Durant named Angel Reese, the rising WNBA star, as his all-time favorite, sparking speculation about the nature of their relationship.
Although Reese is just starting her professional career-having completed only one season with the Chicago Sky-her impact has been significant.
In her rookie year, Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, setting a rookie record with 23 double-doubles, including an astounding WNBA-record 15 consecutive double-doubles.
Reese and Durant have huge mutual respect for each other
Reese, for her part, has long been a fan of Durant.
“KD has literally been my favorite player since I was literally a kid and is still my favorite player. He’s from the DMV. I love his mom. She comes out and supports the games,” she revealed on her podcast.
The two athletes share a connection to the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area, which has fueled a mutual respect between them.
