A Palace spokesman confirmed to GB News: ‘The Wales family will move house later this year’

Prince William and Princess Kate will have access to three Royal Family homes after their move to Forest Lodge later this year.

The couple previously moved to Adelaide Cottage in August 2022 with George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, seven.

However, a Kensington Palace spokesman confirmed to GB News: “The Wales family will move house later this year.”

This means the family will maintain access to three Royal Family residences: Kensington Palace, Anmer Hall, and the newly-acquired Forest Lodge.

Forest Lodge

Located in a scenic part of Windsor Great Park, Forest Lodge is Grade II-listed and described as their “forever home”, where Prince William is expected to stay even after ascending the throne.

Forest Lodge offers more space than the four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage, featuring a chandeliered ballroom, tennis court, Venetian-style windows, and extensive grounds.

Their time at Adelaide Cottage coincided with challenging events for the Royal Family: Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle shortly after their arrival, and in 2024, both King Charles and Kate underwent cancer treatment.

Insiders suggest William and Kate view Forest Lodge as an opportunity for a “fresh start” and a way to move on from difficult memories.

Last week, the property was bustling with gardeners planting new shrubs and builders attending to renovations.

A metal fence with black mesh privacy screens was additionally erected at the front. Forest Lodge, last renovated in 2001, is just a few miles from Lambrook School, attended by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

It is reported that the family will cover the costs of the move and rent without taxpayer assistance. Earlier this summer, Kate was frequently spotted at a Windsor Estate storehouse containing surplus royal furniture and antiques. The Sun reported she was seen selecting a 24-seater dining table.

“This house is much larger than Adelaide Cottage. There is a dining room and drawing room, which require substantial pieces of furniture,” one source said.

In 2013, royal aides suggested that Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace would serve as William and Kate’s permanent residence following a £4.5million taxpayer-funded refurbishment. The work included a new roof, updated electrics, and an additional kitchen alongside the existing 350 sq ft one.

A royal spokesman at the time said: “This is the duke and duchess’s only official residence. It is here that they plan to stay for many, many years to come.”

Despite this, the couple relocated to Adelaide Cottage in August 2022 with George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, seven.

Reports indicated they were keen to respect the public money spent and wanted Apartment 1A to continue functioning as an active home.

Aides have clarified that Kensington Palace will remain their “official London residence” and their staff will continue to operate there.

Kate and William own a mansion in Norfolk called Anmer Hall

Aides have additionally confirmed that Princess Kate and Prince William will keep Anmer Hall in Norfolk, a 10-bedroom home given as a wedding gift by Queen Elizabeth II.

The home is located in Norfolk, a stone’s throw away from Sandringham House – the Royal Family’s Christmas retreat.

The Waleses frequent Anmer Hall during school holidays and extended weekends.

Most notably, the family of five spent this year’s Easter weekend in Norfolk, forgoing the traditional service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
