A WOMAN in China adjusted a traffic mirror to improve her home’s feng shui, inadvertently causing a series of road accidents.
For the past two months, residents of a Shanghai neighbourhood have been plagued by frequent accidents at a sharp turn.

Many believed the accidents were linked to a traffic mirror that had been mysteriously moved, putting public safety at risk.
Despite several attempts by the property management company to adjust the mirror, the accidents continued.
An investigation revealed a woman, living directly across from the mirror, had been moving it to improve her feng shui after experiencing a spell of bad luck.
In an effort to reverse her fortunes, she believed adjusting the mirror would bring harmony to her home.
Feng shui – meaning wind and fire – is a traditional Chinese practice of arranging objects in a way that promotes balance and positive energy.
Mirrors are considered particularly important because they are believed to bring bad luck if placed in the wrong positions, such as facing the front door, windows, or bed.
The woman’s husband – surname Luo – explained his wife had been struggling with “bad luck and health.”
In fact, she had even consulted a feng shui master, who concluded that the traffic mirror was to blame.
Luo claimed it was a “demon-revealing mirror,” an item from Chinese mythology that supposedly exposes the true identity of a demon in disguise.
“We are no demons,” he said.
“We don’t want a demon-revealing mirror pointing at us.”
Despite their justification, neighbours strongly disagreed with the couple’s actions.
One resident pointed out that drivers were forced to be extra cautious when making the turn because of the mirror’s constant adjustments.
Initially, the property management company attempted to resolve the issue by installing another mirror on the opposite side of the road to help drivers navigate the turn without affecting the couple’s home.
However, when the woman suffered another bout of bad luck soon after, she adjusted the mirrors again.
At a loss for what to do, the neighbourhood committee invited the police to speak with the couple.
The officers warned them that tampering with public property could lead to criminal charges, and they could be held responsible for any accidents caused by the mirror’s misplacement.
Word of this unusual behaviour quickly spread online, with one user writing: “They protected their own feng shui but compromised the safety of others.”
Another wrote: “It’s foolish to blame everything on a mirror.”
In the end, to prevent any further issues, the property management company sealed the mirror in place with cement, hoping to bring this bizarre saga to a close.
